On June 2, 2014, the members of the Outreach Committee met with the Rev. Alex Riffee to discuss ways we as a committee can make improvements in how we serve our membership and the local community.
We seek insight from you about your interests in “in-reach” church ministries and programs outside of St. James.

Below is a list of services that our committee members have identified. Look through the list and check services you would personally like to see us put Outreach funding, volunteer hours, and support.
Education:

Mentor middle school & high school students
Become a breakfast buddy for elementary school students
Donate/Volunteer at Adult Continuing Education
Donate funds/supplies to annual book bag drive
Fill backpacks with food for needy students
Fund partial scholarships for HS seniors to earn college credits at PVCC courses taken in HS
Volenteer as adult mentor for Louisa County;s annual 5 day 4-H Camp
Fund partial scholarships for needy 8 to 13 year olds to attend 4-H camp
Donate funds to help recently-released prisoners return to the community
Participate in the annual Kairos ministry at Fluvanna Women's Correctional Center
Build a community prayer labyrinth on church grounds
Educate the needy in how to cook and prepare fresh food
Provide gardening instruction to recipients of perishable foods

Donate non-perishable food to Louisa County Resource Council's (LCRC) emergency food pantry
Volunteer to bag food for the needy at LCRC's Community Cupboard
Volunteer as a driver for LCRC's Meal on Wheels program

Pickup and/or deliver food for LCRC's new Grocery Assistance Program
Prepare and deliver food baskets at Thanksgiving or Christmas
